The problem
Olympia Apparel is a premier custom sports apparel company serving competitive athletes and wrestling teams across Michigan. Their brand is strong — ranked wrestlers wear their gear, teams place bulk orders every season — but their digital presence wasn't keeping pace. The existing website was a template-based Wix site with no interactive product experience, no online ordering capability, and no way to visualize custom gear before placing an order.
Every order went through a phone call or email chain. Coaches would request samples, wait for photos, and then manually relay sizing across their roster. The process worked at low volume but was costing Olympia sales as they scaled — teams were choosing competitors who offered instant online customization.
Our approach
We started with a two-day on-site discovery session with the Olympia team. The insight that drove the entire project: coaches don't just want to buy jerseys online — they want to see them. Custom colorways, team logos, player names and numbers — all rendered in real time before they commit to an order.
That requirement shaped the architecture. We built a custom 3D product renderer using Three.js that lets customers rotate, zoom, and inspect jerseys with their exact customization applied in real time. The renderer handles dynamic texture mapping — upload a team logo, pick your colorway, enter a player name, and the 3D model updates instantly.

The rest of the stack is purpose-built for conversion:
- Next.js on Vercel for the storefront — server-rendered product pages for SEO, client-side interactivity for the configurator
- Stripe for checkout with support for bulk team orders and invoicing
- Tailwind CSS for a responsive design system that matches Olympia's bold, athletic brand identity
- Team-based product catalogs that let coaches browse gear curated for their specific sport and division
We shipped iteratively: storefront and catalog first (week 4), 3D renderer integration (week 7), checkout and order management (week 9), and a polish sprint to lock down mobile performance and SEO (week 10).

The outcome
- 3× increase in online orders within the first quarter post-launch
- Average session duration increased from 45 seconds to 3.5 minutes — driven by the 3D configurator
- 80% of team orders now placed online without a phone call
- Mobile conversion rate improved by 2.4× over the previous site
"Kids pull up the 3D jersey on their phone and show their parents. That never happened before. The product sells itself now."
